- I ran my A3000 for a couple of years without a problem... Then I added a PP&S
- Mercury 68040 CPU and it ran slicker than owl sh*t for a few more years :)
- Recently however, I removed my Mercury 040 (for sale). I reinstalled the
- original Static Column Zip RAM chip, reassembled and rebooted the system only
- to suffer a slew of various SCSI errors... I had checksum errors, volumes that
- wouldn't validate, system crashes during boot, etc... It was terrible! I tried
- everything I could think of, but in the end, the thing that solved my problem
- was to reinstall the Page Mode Zip Ram chip??? I was lucky to have had a spare
- sitting here!
-
- Now PP&S provided that single Page Mode Zip RAM chip. Due to problems with the
- DMAC and RAMSEY chips, the "PMZR" was provided as a means to prevent off-board
- burst mode. Wierd thing is I have the latest version DMAC and RAMSEY chip...
- And the Mercury is removed... So why does my system freak out then I remove
- this chip??? Is the "Burst" info something that can be stored in the A3000's
- NVRAM?
-
- Help!
-
- Thanks, Dale
